President's Message Greetings from The Atlanta Chapter! Founded in 1951, the Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. has established itself as an organization of mothers whose objective is to provide constructive educational, cultural, civic, recreational and social programming to stimulate growth and development in our African-American children. We strive to nurture future leaders through outstanding chapter programming, community service, legislative advocacy and philanthropic giving. Our national organization, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., currently has 223 chapters in seven regions spread throughout the United States. The Atlanta Chapter is the largest chapter in the country with 178 mothers and almost 300 children ages 2-18 years old. I am thrilled to have been chosen to lead this dynamic group of mothers toward our 60th anniversary in 2011. We look forward to celebrating this important milestone with all of our friends at a wonderful gala that is being planned at this very moment. It is hard to believe the 2009-2010 program year will be coming to a close in a few short, but busy months. As a chapter, we’ve experienced Tavis Smiley’s America I Am exhibit and travelled to Tuskegee, Alabama for a Black History tour of its museums and historic university. We have also participated in a myriad of wonderful grade group activities, engaging junior and senior teen events and important regional initiatives. Our children are our future. As we focus on strengthening the child in our midst, we strive to make it Fun to be a Child, Teen and Mother in Jack and Jill! All the best, Patrice B. Greer Patrice Brown Greer President |
